LO4 Storyboards

Storyboards- The visual representation of a script

What is the purpose of a storyboard ?
A story board organisers graphic images in a sequence for the purpose of pre-visualisation. It is used in any type of audio visual product.

It is to plan out the 'scenes' in an audio visual product.

Effective features:
  1. Highlights Key actions in the sequence
  2. Highlights special shot types
  3. Arrows and symbols indicate movements
  4. Numbered in chronological order to fit the story line.
  5. Info describing the action
  6. Camera movement
  7. Transition/ editing info
  8. Mise-en-scene info especially locations
  9. Uses interior/ exterior info
  10. Timings for each scene (in seconds)
  11. Title graphics
  12. Can be adapted

Ineffective features:

  1. Needs to be supported by a script to actually explain the narrative.
